Buffer size

All,
Gedit is a superior editor except for it's buffer size. Large files have a hard time. I've looked for HOWTOs to find the config file for gedit to set or increase the memory buffer size but getting nothing.
Does anyone out there know where the config file is and what setting needs to change for this?
