Up to 6.3 pkg mmgt with Benkmann's user system, "cp src/su /tools/bin" gives "no such file..

Hi,
I posted "su - ignoramous" can'y help feeling like same again - but we're here...
At stage 6.3 I am looking at using the Benkmann more-control-helpers system. I have finished ch5, seems ok, and gone on to 6.3. Reading the more-control-helpers hints indicates I needed to "cp src/su /tools/bin" right after coreutils in ch5. I didn't do it back then but have changed user back to the one that did and recompiled core utils as ch5, and run "cp src/su /tools/bin", but there is no su file. Using ls and ls -al to see everything, I can't see the su file/bin. How would su not be compiled/produced the second time round, when it was the first?
Thankyou all
