Best Way To Encrypt Hard Drive Post Install Without External App?
by crujones4 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#553CG)
I'm relatively new to Linux, and was curious if someone had a [verified] set of command lines to enter in order to safely encrypt my hard-drive post install, as I didn't select to do that at the beginning. Making this as simple to understand as possible with a numbered list would doubtlessly be extraordinarily helpful.
Important:
1. Is this permanent? Will I have to do anything afterwards?
2. Will it affect my ability to transfer files between the drive and external devices?
3. Is it password protected and/or will that be the same as my log in one?
4. Is there anything else I have to do in order to better my device/files regarding security?
I sincerely appreciate the help, enjoy running a new OS enormously, and look forward to figuring out if the Linux community as infinitely more helpful than all the others as I've heard for years.
-Much appreciation,
and kindest regards
