program to correct mouse double-triiggering

A while back I read about software for Linux that would run in the background and detect double-triggers from the mouse button and then it would prevent them from being misinterpreted as double-clicks. That was not of interest at the time, so I forgot what it was called.

Now my mouse has begun to get spazzy, with single clicks often being interpreted as double-clicks. Now I would like to find and build that software.

Does anyone remember the name? I tried to google such terms as "mouse double-trigger" or "mouse mis-trigger" but got oddly unrelated results.
