How can I improve steam remote play performance?
by andrewcmunroe from LinuxQuestions.org on (#55BZ9)
Hi, my name is Andrew.
I'm trying to stream games from my desktop to my laptop but the performance is awful.
Question 1: Is it possible to get good performance? I mean, streaming video, audio, mouse and keyboard signals over one cable seems pretty intense. Can ethernet handle all that?
Question 2: If it is possible, how can I improve the performance?
Deskop Specs: Supermicro C7H270-CG-ML motherboard, intel i5 7600 CPU, Geforce GTX 970 GPU, 16 GB Memory
Laptop Specs: Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming, intel i5-7300HQ CPU, 8 GB memory, GTX 1050 GPU
About my network: I tried connecting the two computers directly but they didn't recognize each other, so I've just got them hooked up to the gateway. I'm trying to do this on my home network over wired connection. Wish I knew more about networking.
I'd really appreciate any help.
