slackware /etc/rc.d/rc.local inconveniently overwritten by package upgrade
by biker_rat from LinuxQuestions.org on (#55EKY)
Is there a reason why this file has to be slated to be overwritten when I upgrade the package? I am sometimes rushed and lazy and just type "O" when asked about overwriting config files. This particular file has nothing executable in it by default and usually has important stuff in it when edited, so could it be protected from being touched by the package upgrade process. I can't imagine a case where overwriting it is beneficial, and I can imagine many cases where overwriting it is detrimental and wastes time.
