Serious problem

Hello
I tried to install a program from the net, did not succeed. All I got is this announcement: E:Type ''deb' is not known on line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/helineva-net.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.
As a result I cannot open Synaptic or any other means of installing programs. Is there any way to solve this problem in a civilized manner? Or do I have to reinstall this Linux Mint 19.3???
I am not very skilled with this, please try to be easy to understand, as I am 73 years old...
