OpenJDK vs Oracle's JDK

I don't fully understand the situation with Java being closed source and an open source alternative being available, but I'm in need of installing Java. And the option to use an open source alternative seems tempting as I'd like to support open source where I can. So I'm curious. Is it advised to bother with Oracle's JDK? or is OpenJDK just fine for running and developing Java programs and applications?latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=ZNhyfNhD8nY:bP0Zuq9CVj4:F7zBnMy latest?i=ZNhyfNhD8nY:bP0Zuq9CVj4:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=ZNhyfNhD8nY:bP0Zuq9CVj4:gIN9vFwZNhyfNhD8nY
