VS Code Drops Fractional Scaling
by djoe_dev from LinuxQuestions.org on (#55PB9)
Just got a fresh version of 20.04 Ubuntu Focal Fossa installed the other day and got VS Code up and running with fractional scaling on 4k monitor at 150%. Not using Wayland, just regular Xorg I think it is (im a noob btw).
Anyways, the scaling works fine at 150%, but when I lock my machine, then log back in after 10 minutes or so, the VS Code window scales down to 100% at 4k which is entirely too small. None of my other applications scale back to 100% just VS Code. It does not scale down if I lock and unlock quickly, only scales down after waiting 10 minutes or so.
I learned that I can hit ALT + F2 and run command 'r' to refresh my GUI and that brings it back to the correct scaling, but this is obviously not ideal to do this each and every time I lock my screen.
Looking for advice on what my next step should be? I did try signing in with Wayland but I found the scaling to be very fuzzy at the same % so I just immediately went back to the ubuntu default. I checked out VS Code's github and searched for some time, not seeing any open issues about it, it could be that it's not even VS Code specific.
I came across this article which touches on the subject: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1230...ogout-in-20-04
however, the answer on that post seemed unclear. It mentioned there was an update mutter 3.63.3 which is supposed to fix it - upon trying to install it i was informed I already have that update.
Maybe there is a way to automate the Alt F2 'r' refresh after every unlock, or maybe there is an update or something else I can try? Thanks for anyone's veteran advice just new to Linux and hoping to get pointed in the right direction!
