Hamilton police search for fleeing driver after overnight crash at John and Wilson streets
Police are investigating a fail to remain crash overnight in downtown Hamilton that left one driver injured and a light pole split in half.
Emergency crews were called to John Street North and Wilson Street just before midnight on Thursday, July 16, 2020 for reports of a two-vehicle collision.
Police say the victim, a 48-year-old man in a Mazda, was northbound on John Street approaching the intersection at Wilson Street, when the driver was struck from behind by a Lincoln MX2, also headed northbound.

Police say the driver fled the scene on foot. While K9 units were brought in to search the area, no arrests were made. A description of the wanted driver has not been released.
The injured driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened for Friday morning.
Police continue to investigate.
