microphone not working online

The microphone is not working online, possibly because of some security setting.
I have three systems: CentOS 7, Ubuntu 16 LTS and Ubuntu 18 LTS.
I only succeeded to make it work online - for example, on onlinemictest.com - in Opera in one user account on CentOS 7.
Microphones work locally, I can record and playback or I can hear the sound in speakers.
I did not try all browser / operating system / user account combinations, of course.
It would help me if you would confirm that your microphone is working under Linux in Firefox and / or chromium.
