System freezes on Gnome desktop app launching

After a fresh installation of Fedora 32 server I successfully installed Gnome desktop. The applications that are installed with the desktop, such as Firefox, work fine. However, when I install programs from the repository such as for example Thunderbird, they install all right, but on launching them the system freezes. What causes this and how can it be solved?
