14.2 -> current, cups broken for Samsung SCX?

Anyone else had issues upgrading from 14.2 to current, copying over existing CUPS config files / PPD files, as well as a couple of filters (in my case, Samsung SCX-4725fn), and things just aren't working?

I see all kinds of "can't find /etc/cups/ppd/Samsung.ppd" (file exists!) message. On my 14.2 system (I have it in an old partition, so I can see all the settings), I didn't need to add any users to the lp group. But root should be able to send a test page regardless.

Plus, my Ricoh C250DN (color laser) works - using the same method. I've already removed and re-added the Samsung using the CUPS HTTP interface - same results.

Some errors I'm seeing are:
D [28/Jul/2020:10:44:30 -0700] [Job 6] PID 27448 (/usr/lib64/cups/filter/rastertospl) stopped with status 1.

...

E [28/Jul/2020:10:44:30 -0700] [Job 6] Unable to open raster stream - : Broken pipe
D [28/Jul/2020:10:44:30 -0700] [Job 6] Error: /ioerror in --showpage--
D [28/Jul/2020:10:44:30 -0700] [Job 6] GPL Ghostscript 9.52: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

Looking through my old /var/log/cups/error_log, I see none of these issues..
D [12/May/2020:18:00:19 -0700] [Job 282] PID 7878 (/usr/lib64/cups/filter/gstoraster) exited with no errors.

D [12/May/2020:18:00:19 -0700] [Job 282] Connecting to printhub2:515 for printer samsung

Anyone else run into a similar issue? Did I forget something? Guess I'll have to wrestle with Samsung's filter stuff again..latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=vV8q0hq_DuU:o4Jzi_ybXYY:F7zBnMy latest?i=vV8q0hq_DuU:o4Jzi_ybXYY:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=vV8q0hq_DuU:o4Jzi_ybXYY:gIN9vFwvV8q0hq_DuU
