Installing kali linux using a bootable USB

I'm trying to install kali linux using a bootable usb but the computer says "please make sure that the installation media is inserted correctly ". I go to live stream persistence and create a folder but when i reboot, the folder is not there. I've been trying a few tutorials from youtube but my cmd can't run other commands. I can't even add a new partition. Help would be much appreciated.
