What you need to know
  • Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 2 alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Tab S7 series at its virtual Unpacked event today.
  • The phone comes with a premium new design and a tablet-like 7.6-inch main display.
  • Pre-orders go live on September 1, 2020.

Just as expected, Samsung today unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 2 at its virtual Unpacked event. Samsung says the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 packs several new innovations that help enhance the unique foldable user experience.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a massive 7.6-inch Infinity-O main display and a 6.2-inch Infinity-O cover screen. Both displays are not only larger than the ones on the Galaxy Fold, they are also edge-to-edge with nearly no bezels. Unsurprisingly, the main display on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 uses Samsung's bendable Ultra Thin Glass. Samsung has also added a "cutting-edge" hinge technology that will allow users to fold the phone just like a book.

The foldable flagship comes in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colors. A limited Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne Edition will be available as well. Sadly, Samsung hasn't revealed much else about the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Reservations for the foldable are now live on the Samsung website, and the company says pre-orders will go live on September 1.
