14.2 no longer recognizes my mp3 player. How do I change that?

For years, I've used an mp3 player for "workout" music, and recently decided to update its playlist. At one time I did this frequently enough that I have bash scripts that used to synchronize a playlist on my laptop to the mp3 player. The key phrase being "used to". I no longer seem to be able to mount the built in usb drive to do the copying.

I don't know when this changed. I know that I've upgraded the kernel a couple of times since I last tried.

I'm convinced there must have be a change to some configuration file (udev or udisk?) that needs adjusting, but I really have no idea which file or what to change.

Below, is a snippet from /var/log/messages where I plug in the mp3 player

In a separate experiment, I removed the SD card and plugged it in directly to my laptop and it mounts fine. Unfortunately, the playlist I want to update pertains to the "sdb" part.

Can someone point me to where/what I need to change to get this to work again? Thanks in advance.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=OFF5Cv_0qCY:z3-6z8nbykI:F7zBnMy latest?i=OFF5Cv_0qCY:z3-6z8nbykI:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=OFF5Cv_0qCY:z3-6z8nbykI:gIN9vFwOFF5Cv_0qCY
