Forcing "KDE" resolution at startup
by ziphem from LinuxQuestions.org on (#56JR0)
The subject may not be entirely accurate, but close enough. Here's the issue that I'm having:
I run Fedora 31 and use Cinnamon. I also have installed KDE-based software like KDENLive. When I start these programs, the font is tiny (and it's not just because I'm getting older and my vision is worse!).
In KDE System Settings, I have set "Force Font DPI" to 144. I restart the programs like KDENLive, and all fonts look nice and big.
I restart the computer, I run KDENLive, and the font sizes revert to being tiny. Interestingly, when I re-open KDE System Settings, the DPI hasn't changed from 144. But if I change it to anything else and back - to 96, 200, whatever, back to 144, and apply changes - the problem is fixed and the font size in KDENLive is larger again....until reboot. Then I must do the process over.
I don't reboot my computer often so it's not a *major* inconvenience, but I'd love to know why the DPI adjustments don't hold and if there is a solution.
I was thinking that perhaps I can apply the changes via CLI at startup? In sum, does anyone know what command I could run to force this change? I tried `xrandr --dpi 144` in bash, but this did not make any difference. If there's another setting I'm missing, please let me know!
I'd appreciate any guidance anyone could provide on this.
Thanks a ton!!
