[Newbie] Centralised Linux OS on server, multiple Fat Clients
by hodak from LinuxQuestions.org on (#56P6A)
Hi i am new to linux but even newer to server-client systems/set ups so do be patient with me if my questions seem a tad on the rudimentary side ya ^^
These are my questions
#1 Can i server install, update a Linux based OS and serve multiple fat clients?
#2 Setting would be home or small office using 1Gbps fibre broadband internet, nothing crazy fast enterprise grade stuff
#3 Can fat clients (in theory) just run the apps via Remote Desktop software in a USB thumbdrive and store output in a shared storage pool (NAS/Cloud)
#4 All processing and computing done by fat clients, server merely installs Linux OS and sets up shared storage pool
#5 Do i need to install a VM on the server for this application?
How would u gurus do it cheaply and efficiently? Is there a cloud based linux distro for the above scenario that is the solution i am unaware of?
