Error Message on Boot: kvm: disabled by bios
by juju from LinuxQuestions.org on (#56RVE)
Hello,
I have an issue with my new desktop build. I'm assuming this is a software issue, but for all I know, it might be hardware?
I built this new machine 2 days ago. I have 2 drives and I successfully installed Windows 10 on the first. Tonight, I installed Debian 10 AMD64 (via DVD) on the 2nd drive. The installation went well enough. The only problem I encountered during setup was being unable to configure my network via DHCP. GRUB was installed. Upon reboot, I saw booth OS listed. It booted into Debian and I received the following error:
Debian GNU/Linux 10 {machine name} tty1
{machine name} login: [ 5.095012] kvm: disabled by bios
This last line is repeated 6 more times and then boot just hangs.
I have seen some similar posts, but none seem to be exactly like mine. I am reluctant to tool around with my bios without prior knowledge. And I have no need for virtualization.
Any suggestions?
Hardware:
Aorus Master x570 motherboard, BIOS ver. F21
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
EVGA RTX 2070 SUPER Black Gaming (08G-P4-3071)
Corsair Vengance 16GB RAM
Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB
Samsung Electronics SSD 960 NVMe PCIe SSD Controller
OS:
Windows 10 Home, installed on Gigabyte Aorus NVMe M2A_Socket (Works fine...)
Debian 10, installed on Samsung 960 NVMe M2B_Socket
