Hamilton police searching for stolen blue Audi after drive-by shooting near Limeridge Road
Hamilton police are looking for a blue Audi sedan after a drive-by shooting on the Mountain Sunday evening.
Police believe shots were fired from the 2010, four-door Audi at a group of people standing at Elgar Avenue and Limeridge Road West around 6:15 p.m. Aug. 16, said Const. Jerome Stewart.
No one was hurt and the car fled, driving erratically at Scenic Drive and Garth Street. The car, with the licence place CKHY 362, was last seen northbound, going the wrong way on one-way Park Street South from Herkimer Street.
The car had been reported stolen before the shooting, Stewart said. Police believe the theft and shooting are related.
Detectives believe the shooting was targeted.
Police are asking the public to check security cameras for suspicious activity.
The gun and car used in the shooting have not been found. If the vehicle is spotted police ask the public not to approach but call 911 immediately.
The incident marks the 30th shooting in Hamilton this year. There have been 19 victims shot, including eight people killed. There were 47 shootings in Hamilton in 2019.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Mountain criminal investigation branch.
