'Do not approach': Milton prisoner released by mistake into community
Halton Regional Police are on the hunt this morning (Aug. 18) for a prisoner who was released by mistake from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton.
It happened around 11 p.m. Monday night when Halton police were notified by staff from Maplehurst that a prisoner, identified as 28-year-old Amritpal Singh Aujla, had been "released in error," police said in a news release.
Halton police are looking for the public's help in returning him to custody.
He was last seen leaving the correctional complex on foot and is described as male, East Indian, five-foot-ten with a slim build, weighing approximately 170 pounds with black shoulder length hair, black beard, wearing a black Tommy Hilfiger track suit with a large Tommy Hilfiger symbol printed in the middle of the chest. Police say Aujla was carrying a black back pack.
"If seen do not approach and call 911 for police assistance," Sgt. Paul Rural said in a release.
