My Slackware System Drops Peripherals when a Browser is Left Open for an Extended Period
by samtsco from LinuxQuestions.org on (#57300)
I realize there are already threads regarding the freeze-up or drop of monitor, mouse and keyboard, but I am posting a new thread because I have already pin-pointed the program with the cause.
It is my browser.
Once or twice daily, my mouse and keyboard would drop, or else my monitor.
Over a long period, it became clear that it only does it if my browser is left running - especially while I am away from the computer for a long time. In such a case, the peripheral drops sometime in my absence, or fairly immediately after I return and resume working.
I have found the same indications with Firefox but changed to Opera and have run Opera exclusively for quite some time.
My happy workaround is I open Opera when I need it and close it as soon as I am done with it for the moment. With this approach I never have a problem, and my system purrs for days on end.
I will appreciate clues about where to start looking, to determine my problem.
