Despite rumors surfacing claiming the Jacksonville Jaguars are close to trading Yannick Ngakoue, a deal doesn't appear imminent after all.

Jaguars general manager David Caldwell addressed the recent reports and Ngakoue's status with the team on Thursday.

"The unsubstantiated report kind of caught me off guard too ... but if (Ngakoue's) being traded, I wish somebody would let me know," Caldwell said on Sirius XM NFL Radio. "Obviously we've had discussions with teams ... but that report was pretty erroneous.

"Obviously we're working with the player and his agents ... and trying to come to a good resolution for everybody," he continued. "Right now we're in a holding pattern, he's in a (holdout) but we're having contact with him and his agent. We've talked to some teams, but there's nothing immediate that's going to happen here."

The star pass-rusher still hasn't signed his franchise-tag tender or attended Jaguars training camp, though he's not contractually obligated to do so.

Ngakoue still wants to be traded from Jacksonville and doesn't plan to sign in the immediate future. He even reportedly engaged in contract discussions with other clubs and is open to playing on a one-year deal elsewhere.

The Jaguars had been unwilling to engage in trade discussions for the 25-year-old before camp began.
