is -buntu design influencing other Debian-based distros?

On a non-buntu Debian-based distro that I use, I was appalled to find that the latest version has by default enabled a splash screen that hides the system messages at boot. Fortunately, I figured out quickly enough without asking how to turn off this "quiet splash." I'm not terrified of the Linux system messages scrolling down the screen--in fact I like them and expect to observe them--and so the equivalent of a patronizing "Welcome to Macintosh" screen would just irritate me.

This made me wonder: in light of the great popularity of the many -buntu distros, are they probably influencing the design principles of other Debian-based distros? It would be a natural development: designers thinking that if they want to attract newbies, they need to -buntu-ize their distros.

I was so disappointed by my distro's change that I suddenly grew distro-restless for the first time in years, and started looking at what else is out there. Within the Debian family, for the moment. (Although that could change. I reacted that badly to having the system messages hidden from me.) The thing is, I can guess that if -buntu influences might be creeping into the design of my distro, they would probably be influencing other Debian-based distros. You can see how many of them are explicitly -buntu-based. And mine isn't!

This suspicion is what's nudging me to maybe overcome the inertia of my high comfort level with Debian. You can see that such inertia is very strong considering that I haven't left the Debian family in at least fourteen years.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=Wlkc5FboFcA:o7HKekAGUXw:F7zBnMy latest?i=Wlkc5FboFcA:o7HKekAGUXw:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=Wlkc5FboFcA:o7HKekAGUXw:gIN9vFwWlkc5FboFcA
