Man wanted in Aberdeen Avenue shooting arrested in Toronto
Hamilton police say an 18-year-old man wanted after a shooting at a short-term rental on Aberdeen Avenue earlier this month has been arrested.
Christopher Mitchell was arrested in Toronto on Friday and will be transported to Hamilton.
He's facing several firearm charges following an incident at a short-term rental property on Aberdeen Avenue Aug. 9 where a shotgun was fired into the ceiling.
Police allege Mitchell was one of three men who rented a room at the property after coming to the city to make a rap video.
The trio were loud and intimidating, spurring complaints from other people renting rooms in the house, police said.
The property manger asked the men to leave and offered a full refund. That's when one man allegedly lifted his shirt to show a handgun and another fired two rounds of buckshot from a shotgun into the ceiling, police said.
No one was hurt and the trio fled.
On Aug. 14, police released Mitchell's photo and a public appeal to help find the armed and dangerous" suspect. Police allege he was the shooter.
Police are still working to identify the second suspect who allegedly flashed a handgun.
The incident marked the 29th shooting in Hamilton this year.
It remains under investigation by the central criminal investigation branch.
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Const. Alex Buck at 905-546-3817.
