There were zero positive COVID-19 tests among NFL players in the latest round of testing conducted between Aug. 12 and Aug. 20, the NFL announced Monday.

The league conducted 58,397 tests in that span involving 8,573 players and personnel. Only six results were positive, all from personnel.

Overall, 35,137 tests were administered to team staff members, while 23,260 tests were given to players.

Individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus were immediately isolated and aren't permitted to travel with the team or access club facilities, the league said.

On Saturday, a testing issue occurred at one of the labs that 11 NFL teams use, resulting in 77 positive tests. The league re-ran those tests twice, and each was proven to be a false positive. BioReference Laboratories said the issue stemmed from "an isolated contamination during test preparation in the New Jersey laboratory."
