"A few prominent Black players" told NFL Media's Jim Trotter that they want to sit out a game to communicate their feelings and force action.

The players are "tired, frustrated, and emotional," Trotter reports.

A number of NFL teams canceled practices this week amid protests across multiple sports leagues responding to the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Most clubs have held team meetings to develop strategies for combating inequality in their communities.

Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard said Thursday that they wouldn't rule out the New York Giants sitting out a regular-season contest and it would be a subject of discussion for the team, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

The Milwaukee Bucks opted not to come out for their Game 5 tilt against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, which eventually led the NBA to postpone multiple days of postseason action. Several MLB games were postponed Wednesday and Thursday due to walkouts and the NHL postponed Thursday and Friday's playoff games at the request of players.

The 2020 NFL campaign is set to begin Thursday, Sept. 10.
