The Las Vegas Raiders have released veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo.

Amukamara joined the Raiders on a one-year deal in May after spending three seasons with the Chicago Bears. Chicago cut him in February to clear cap space. He started 42 games for the Bears and hauled in three interceptions.

The Raiders brought Amukamara aboard as insurance for their youth at cornerback, a group that includes sophomore Trayvon Mullen and first-round rookie Damon Arnette.

"I spoke to (general manager) Mike Mayock this morning," Amukamara told reporter Josina Anderson. "He said they like where they're at with the young guys. I respect him. I still want to play. I've played in all systems. I can thrive anywhere."

Amukamara will head back to free agency and look to join the fifth team of his career. The 30-year-old has also played for the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars.
