The Natural History Museum, London, has released a selection of gorgeous "Highly Commended" images from their Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Seen here are some of my favorites. The overall winners will be revealed in October.

Above: "Amazon burning" by Charlie Hamilton James, UK. Below: Large male gharial and its offspring by Dhritiman Mukherjee, India; "Peeking possums" by Gary Meredith, Australia; Mollusks and grey reef shark, Fakarava Atoll, by Laurent Ballesta, France; Hippopotamus in Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve by Jose Fragozo, Portugal
