Police say charges will not be laid against the driver of a delivery truck that hit a pedestrian in downtown Hamilton in August.

On Aug. 9, a 57-year-old Hamilton entered into the path" of a large delivery truck" travelling east on York Boulevard from Bay Street North shortly after 12:30 p.m., police say. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died on Aug. 18.

At the family's request, police will not be releasing his name.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from Scarborough, remained on scene and cooperated with police.

Hamilton police concluded their investigation into the incident Wednesday.

Detectives ruled out speed, alcohol and driver error as contributing factors to the crash.

Police say the driver will not face any charges.
