Josh Rosen is on the hunt for his third team in as many seasons.

The Miami Dolphins released the quarterback, head coach Brian Flores confirmed Saturday, according to Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post.

"At this time of year, every decision is tough. Josh worked hard, he competed, he did everything we asked, but at this time, we did what was best for the Miami Dolphins," said Flores.

With the Dolphins expected to name Ryan Fitzpatrick their starting quarterback and rookie Tua Tagovailoa's clean bill of health following a serious hip injury in November, Rosen's been deemed expendable.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted Rosen 10th overall in 2018 but traded him to Miami for a 2019 second-round pick and a 2020 fifth-round selection after landing the first overall pick in the 2019 draft and the right to pick Kyler Murray.

The 23-year-old lost a quarterback competition to Fitzpatrick last year. After the Dolphins struggled early, Rosen was named the starter for the remainder of the season. However, coach Brian Flores reversed course and turned back to Fitzpatrick after Rosen went 0-3 in his starts.

Rosen is 3-13 in 16 career starts across two seasons while throwing for 2,845 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions. He's completed 54% of his passes and owns a 63.5 quarterback rating.

The Dolphins reportedly tried to trade Rosen but were unable to find a partner.
