Free-agent pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney will join the Tennessee Titans despite a late push from the New Orleans Saints, he told NFL Insider Josina Anderson.

It was reported earlier Saturday that Clowney was headed to the AFC South club, but he said at that time he still hadn't made a final decision.

Clowney received a one-year deal worth up to $15 million, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The former Seattle Seahawks standout reportedly asked for $21 million per season at the start of free agency, but his market was seemingly far weaker than he anticipated.

He then reportedly lowered his target to around $18 million per year but was still unable to land a deal and will now have to hit incentives to get close to his desired figure.

Clowney will be reunited in Tennessee with head coach Mike Vrabel, who was his position coach and later the defensive coordinator with the Houston Texans during the player's time there.

The 27-year-old Clowney said the familiarity with Vrabel played a role in his decision to join the Titans.

Clowney battled injuries last year with the Seahawks, as he posted his lowest number of sacks (three) for a season in which he played more than four games. The former South Carolina standout had 18.5 sacks combined over the 2017 and 2018 campaigns.
