Battery status display problem
by joboy from LinuxQuestions.org on (#57V3B)
Hi there,
I am running Mint Debian 4 on a Lenovo Ideapad U160 with i3, I installed a after market battery, it got 62% when I receive it, then it drops normally as I use it, but I can never get pass the 60% mark even after overnight charging. Since I don't have the original battery, nor have I a copy of m$ win to test it, what I am going to do is let it discharge completely overnight and then recharge again to see what comes, this is what most people will do, but before I do that I would like to know, if there is any utility on Linux I can test the battery, or something that help to maintain the battery ?
The battery came in mint full packing at low price, so I believe it is 'refill' or recycled, or it lacking the proper charge control circuit so mislead the system with a wrong rating. It is a 6 cell battery claimed to have 5200mah capacity, much greater than the original 4400mah, according to the power status as shown attached, it's real capacity is roughly 4200mah, but anyway I don't except it works better than the original, but at least I want a real battery status display, any comment ?
