[SOLVED] Mint 19 updater obstacle?

I just installed Mint 19 alongside Slackware, and went to update, this old version. But the updater is not as I have seen before in Linux Mint, the controls are there, but faded and not responsive, and underneath there is no list for updates there is a message about security and other aspects of Mint, like an advert. There is no responsive option. Also right clicking on the updater icon doesn't get anything through either.

This is Mint 19 on a laptop, a fresh install, with Xfce and 32 Bit.
