Update BIOS for dual boot, Windows alongside Linux?

On a 2010 HP I have the option of installing Windows 7, then upgrading to Windows 10. However the recommendation is upgrading a pre 2015 system's BIOS. What will that mean if I want to dual boot my system with Linux?
