Double Terminal Bell Sound Error with Mate
by kajotex from LinuxQuestions.org on (#589GQ)
Hi there!
So, while I'm not exactly a linux newbie (working with it for over two years now), I do believe this is a newbie question.
When I'm in the terminal and try to autocomplete something you get this alert sound that has all the appeal of getting hit on the nose by a basketball, and kind of makes me flinch like that too.
I have finally had enough now and wanted to change this.
I'm using the MATE Desktop Environment so I selected Menu, typed in "sound", clicked the sound icon and could select a new sound, like the pleasing drop or the nice glass *ding*.
So I selected that and was ready to give my ears a break.
But now I have BOTH sounds. It sound like my left ear enjoys a nice drop and the right one a displeasing *THUNK*
A reboot would not help (windows habits die hard)
I found the following AU post:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1105...-terminal-bell
which I tried, but it did not help either. Now I'm not sure what to do as I'm not sure where the system even takes the sound from.
Any help would be apprechiated.
