Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor was discharged from the hospital Sunday after being evaluated for breathing difficulties, the team said in a statement obtained by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Taylor didn't play against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a chest issue. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn found out after the opening coin toss that Taylor wouldn't be available.

The Chargers said Taylor's status for Week 3 would be determined in the coming days.

Rookie Justin Herbert started in Taylor's place and went 22-for-33 for 311 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Chargers fell 23-20 to the Chiefs in overtime.

Lynn said after the game that Taylor would re-enter the starting lineup if he's healthy. Taylor led the Chargers to a win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
