The Seattle Seahawks reportedly fear outside linebacker Bruce Irvin has torn his ACL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Irvin will undergo more tests to confirm the injury.

The defensive lineman went down during Sunday night's game against the New England Patriots.

Head coach Pete Carroll was optimistic about Irvin's outlook following the contest, calling it a "knee sprain" and noting that the linebacker was walking around the locker room, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson.

The Seahawks' defense has been a major concern so far this season. The team has just three sacks, with two coming from safety Jamal Adams alone. Irvin is listed as the team's strong-side linebacker but also helps the pass rush.

The Seahawks selected Irvin - who is in the midst of his second stint with the team - during the first round in 2012. The 32-year-old recorded a career-high 8.5 sacks last season with the Carolina Panthers.
