Spreading virus from one OS to another in same device.

Hi.
I'm leaving in a third old country, it's impossible to buy any games or any other apps in here. Every single person use pirated apps in this country since it's almost impossible to pay for game and app. I don't wanna turn my computer to a queen for malwares and viruses, I heard that software typically found on Linux machines are free so I decided to make the switch to Linux, use it as my primary OS while keeping windows for gaming purpose.
My question is, How can I isolate my windows OS which could be infected by pirated software from Linux one? Is installing them on different partitions enough to keep primary OS (Linux one) safe and keep viruses seperated from probably infected OS (windows)?
