Following quarterback Drew Lock's injury, the Denver Broncos are expected to sign Blake Bortles, sources told 9 News' Mike Klis.

The plan is for Bortles to go through COVID-19 testing and quarantine protocols until Friday before officially joining the club on a one-year, veteran-minimum deal, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 28-year-old could be active as Denver's No. 2 quarterback for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Klis adds.

After five inconsistent campaigns with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him third overall in 2014, Bortles signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams last March to be Jared Goff's backup. He played briefly in just three contests, attempting two passes.

Jeff Driskel, who replaced Lock following his injury, is expected to start Week 3. Driskel went 18-of-34 passing for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception versus the Pittsburgh Steelers after taking over.
