Report: Vikings signing Todd Davis to 1-year deal amid defensive struggles
The Minnesota Vikings are signing linebacker Todd Davis to a one-year contract as they look to restore a defense that has struggled to begin the season, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Davis, 28, started 63 games for the Denver Broncos from 2014-19. He's coming off back-to-back seasons in which he recorded 100-plus tackles and was a surprise cut ahead of the 2020 campaign.
Typically a strong defensive team under head coach Mike Zimmer, the Vikings rank 29th in yards allowed and 31st in points surrendered through two weeks this year.
Minnesota lost linebacker Anthony Barr to a season-ending pectoral injury in Week 2, creating an opening in the starting lineup that Davis could conceivably fill.
The winless Vikings face the unbeaten Tennessee Titans in Week 3.
