Head coach Matt Nagy named Nick Foles the Chicago Bears starting quarterback over Mitchell Trubisky ahead of the team's Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

"He's our starter moving forward," Nagy said, according to Bears writer Larry Mayer.

Foles came off the bench Sunday to lead the Bears to a 16-point fourth-quarter comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons. The veteran signal-caller completed 16 of 29 pass attempts for 188 yards and three touchdowns against one interception after taking over for Trubisky.

Trubisky, who posted a 2-0 record to start the 2020 season, said after the game against the Falcons that Chicago's decision to bench him "happened out of nowhere."

The 2017 second overall pick has completed 59.3% of his pass attempts while throwing six touchdowns against three interceptions in three appearances this year.

Foles owns a 26-22 career record as a starter over nine seasons, but his last win came in 2018 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He lost all four of his starts during an injury-plagued campaign with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019.

The Bears acquired the Super Bowl LII MVP through a trade with the Jaguars in March, weeks before declining the fifth-year option on Trubisky's rookie contract.
