re-installing ubuntu
by barisaxual from LinuxQuestions.org on (#58R4D)
Last year I bought a recondition hp pavillion tower loaded with 32-bit ubuntu. the computer's processor is "2nd Generation Intel Core 13-2130". This is my first time using a linux computer.
I stumbled around and have had almost no problems, but I just got a message saying there would be no more updates for the i386 edition that is on my computer. The message also said I could download and install a newer version that will continue to be supported with software updates.
I need to know if the newer versions will work on my computer, and if so, what's the best source for a complete idiot's guide to installing the newer edition and migrating passwords and files. I've got a fair bit of experience using PCs and have installed and uninstalled many programs, but have only experienced upgrading an operating system with Windows.
