Appimages Questions
by hodak from LinuxQuestions.org on (#58SDR)
Hi i read an interview of Simon Peter the creator of appimages and i have some questions
https://itsfoss.com/appimage-interview/
#1 Do all appimages have to go through "compatibility tests" to be an "official appimage"? What if it is created but not gone through these tests - it becomes an unofficial appimage then?
#2 In theory can all linux apps from the dawn of time be converted to appimages? If so is this process automated or done manually?
#3 This is more of an idea. Why can't we have an Appimage Store on the cloud that gives us 2 options
a) Run the appimage straight off the cloud but have some "desktop integration" automatically i.e a launcher icon is created and it points to the appimage on the cloud
b) For those who absolutely need to run the app locally/offline : Download + Integrate (one click process)
and also
c) Have games for linux packaged as appimages on this cloud store?
Make apps searchable and auto update-able maybe?
