How to split a file / wordlist after a certain word?

What is the proper command and syntax (awk / sed?) for splitting a wordlist after a certain word? Each word is on its own line. I iterate through a list, then lose my connection for awhile. I want to restart at the point / word in the list that I was at before I lost the connection.
