The Carolina Panthers closed their facilities Monday and are working remotely following one unconfirmed positive COVID-19 test.

"Out of an abundance of caution, players, coaches, and staff will work virtually today and Tuesday," the team said in a statement that NFL Network's Tom Pelissero obtained. "The training room remains open and we are still scheduled to operate on our regular itinerary on Wednesday."

The test result in question popped up a day after the Panthers lost to the Chicago Bears.

The Panthers, who placed offensive lineman Tyler Larsen on the COVID-19 reserve list two days before the game, also added guard Michael Schofield to that reserve group Monday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Carolina are scheduled to face the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. Assuming the contest takes place as scheduled, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said he isn't sure whether Pro Bowl running back Christian McCaffrey will be ready to return from his sprained ankle, according to The Athletic's Joe Person.
