usb device notifier & *dedicated* FM window

Under KDE when I click on 'open in file-manager' I would like a dedicated file-manager window to open on that device insteasd of a new tab in any already open window. Is this possible? It seems to me that this WAS the routine before but cannot state that for a fact and the tabbing just irritates me (although it's what I use for normal file-manager situations and have that set in file-manager preferences).
