passwd broken after latest -current update

by

from LinuxQuestions.org on (#59BW0)
after the most recent update I got the following:

Quote:
root@enable:~# passwd
passwd: Module is unknown
passwd: password unchanged
Also plasma5 and xfce fail to start but i am able to run FVWM (!)
Libreoffice runs, but Vivaldi gives a libffi.so.6 error which i kludged with a link...

Update:
after the link to libffi.so.6, Plasma5 does run normally now but passwd is still broken, which I presume to be a Pam-related problem but dont know.
I bumped into this passwd problem when trying to add a new userlatest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=qYsZoEEpPEQ:sjxkAXfXV4g:F7zBnMy latest?i=qYsZoEEpPEQ:sjxkAXfXV4g:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=qYsZoEEpPEQ:sjxkAXfXV4g:gIN9vFwqYsZoEEpPEQ
