New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas won't suit up Sunday against the Carolina Panthers due to a hamstring injury and may be in danger of missing next week's game, too, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The receiver hasn't played since the team's season opener for numerous reasons. A high ankle sprain, suffered in Week 1, kept Thomas sidelined for three games. The talented wideout was then making progress toward a return in Week 5 but was forced to sit out the Saints' tilt against the Los Angeles Chargers after reportedly getting into an altercation with a teammate. A hamstring injury suffered in practice Wednesday is the latest ailment plaguing his 2020 campaign.

New Orleans could be in a tough spot moving forward as it's lacking receiving depth. Emmanuel Sanders was placed on the COVID-19 list Friday and will not be available Sunday. His return date is currently unclear.

Sitting at 3-2, the Saints are expected to continue to rely on Alvin Kamara in Thomas' absence. Kamara has totaled 676 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns this season.

Thomas has become one of the NFL's top receivers. The 27-year-old led the league in receptions (149) and receiving yards (1,725) last year and has been named to three consecutive Pro Bowls.
