ZFS on Linux - Backups
by qombi from LinuxQuestions.org on (#59H7Y)
I presently enjoy having ZFS on Linux as my file server filesystem on a few servers. I backup using a great product called backuppc. Everything works okay, no problems so far. However I read that some use ZFS send/receive or some 3rd party scripts to do their backups using snapshots. It sounds like it makes sense in my zfs environment.
My concerns would be are there audit logs to see what files have changed in what snapshot? I like to know if something changed that I wasn't aware of or a way to view file changes over time.
Any of you have a familiarity of using ZFS snapshots across to a remote backup server as a backup solution? I read Sanoid/Syncoid are popular. I couldn't find any information on how to audit file changes. Thanks!
